Follow these easy steps below to set up your Netscape 6.x for e-mail.

1.
In Netscape, go to the Tasks menu and select Mail.

2. The New Account Wizard will automatically appear for the user opening Netscape Mail with Netscape 6.x for the first time. Continue to step 3 if the account wizard automatically appears.

If you have previously used Netscape Mail in Netscape 6.x, follow these steps to manually start the New Account Wizard:

           * Go to the Edit menu.

           * Select Mail/News Account Settings.

           * In the window that is displayed, click on the New Account button.

3. Once the New Account Wizard has started, you will be asked for the type of e-mail account that you have. Select ISP or email provider and click Next.

4. Enter your name and GlobalNet e-mail address, ie: johndoe@surfglobal.net and click Next

5. The Incoming Mail Server should be set as a POP Mail Server.

6. For the Incoming Mail Server (POP3), enter: mail.surfglobal.net and click Next.

7. For the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP), enter: mail.surfglobal.net and click Next.

Note: If you already have an Outgoing Mail Server entered in Netscape, the program will not allow you to enter another outgoing mail server address in the New Account Wizard. To change your current outgoing mail server to the Interchange SMTP server, please read the Modifying SMTP Server Settings section below.

8. Enter your GlobalNet username in the User name box. ie: johndoe@surfglobal.net (Just the first part of your email address).

9. Leave this setting unmodified and press the Next button. This step does not affect the way that Netscape retrieves your GlobalNet e-mail.

10. Click Finish to complete the wizard and save your settings.

 

Modifying SMTP Server Settings

1. In Netscape, go to the Tasks menu and select Mail.

2. Netscape Mail will then open. Click on the Edit menu and choose Mail/News Account Settings.

3. Click on Outgoing (SMTP) Server.

4. In the Server name box, enter: mail.surfglobal.net.

5. Make sure that the Always use name and password is not enabled.

6. Click OK to save changes.
