Follow these easy steps below to set up your Internet
Explorer, and Outlook Express using the Internet Connection Wizard.
1. Click
on the
Start
button
on the lower left-hand corner of your desktop. Select
Settings
from
the pop-up window
and then select the Control Panel.
In the Control Panel open the Internet
Options
icon.
2. On the General
folder tab delete the Home Page Address that is listed and enter
http://www.surfglobal.net
in its place and click on the Apply
button at the bottom of the screen.
3. Click on the Connections
folder tab up top and then click on the
Setup button to start the Internet Connection
Wizard.
4. On the first screen on the Internet
Connection Wizard you will have a choice of 3 options. Select the
bottom option, I want to set up my Internet
connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network
(LAN). Click on Next.
5. Select the top option, I
connect through a phone line and modem.
Click on Next.
6. Select the top option,
Create a new connection if this screen appears,
otherwise skip to step 7.
Click on Next.
7. Enter GlobalNet's local
access number for your area in the Telephone
Number field. Uncheck the box down below that says Use
area code and dialing rules. Click
on Next

8. Enter your GlobalNet
Username and Password
you selected when you signed up for your
account. These should be entered all in lowercase letters.
Your username is the same as your email address (i.e.
username@surfglobal.net). Click on
Next.
9. Delete the Connection
name and enter GlobalNet
for the name of connection. Click on
Next.
10. Select Yes
to set up your Internet mail account now. Click on Next.
11. Select the top option, Create
a new Internet mail account if this screen
appears, otherwise skip to step 12.
Click on Next.
12. Enter your full
name in the Display
name field. Click on Next.
13. Enter your GlobalNet
E-mail address. This should be your
username@surfglobal.net.
Click on Next.
14. At the top you should have
POP3 selected for your incoming mail server.
Go down to the next line and enter mail.surfglobal.net
for the Incoming mail(POP3, IMAP, or
HTTP) server. Go down to the next
line and enter mail.surfglobal.net
for the Outgoing mail(SMTP) server.
Click on Next.
15. Enter your GlobalNet user name
in the Account name
field and your password in the Password
field. Click on Next.
16. Click on
Finish. Congratulations you are all set
to connect to the Internet.
