Follow these easy steps below to set up your Internet Explorer, and Outlook Express using the Internet Connection Wizard.


1.  Click on the Startbutton on the lower left- hand corner of your desktop.  Select Settings from the pop-up window and then select the Control Panel.  In the Control Panel open the Internet icon. 

2.  On the General folder tab delete the Home Page Address that is listed and enter http://www.surfglobal.net in its place and click on the Apply button at the bottom of the screen.

3.  Click on the Connections folder tab up top,
then click on the Connect button at the top to start the Connection Wizard. 

4.  On the first screen on the Internet Connection Wizard you will have a choice of 3 options.  Select the middle option, I have an existing Internet account through my phone line.  Click on Next.

5.  Select the top option, You are accessing your account using an internet service provider.  Click on Next.

6.  Select the top option, Connect using a phone line. Click on Next.

7.  Enter GlobalNet's Local Access Number for your area in the Telephone Number field.  Uncheck the box down below that says Use area code and dialing rules.  Click Next.

Click Here for a list of Local Access Numbers.

8.  Enter your GlobalNet Username and Password you selected when you signed up for your account.  These should be entered all in lowercase letters.  Your username is the same as your email address (i.e. username@surfglobal.net).  Click on Next.

9.  Select NO to change advanced settings. Click on Next.

10.  Delete the Connection name and enter GlobalNet for the name of connection. Click on Next.

11.  Select Yes to set up your Internet mail account now. Click on Next.

12.  Select the top option, Create a new Internet mail account if this screen appears, otherwise skip to step 17. Click on Next.

13.  Enter your full name in the Display name field. Click on Next

14.  Enter your GlobalNet E-mail address. This should be your username@surfglobal.net. Click on Next.

15.  At the top you should have POP3 selected for your incoming mail server. Go down to the next line and enter mail.surfglobal.net for the Incoming mail(POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) server. Go down to the next line and enter mail.surfglobal.net for the Outgoing mail(SMTP) server. Click on Next.

16.  Enter your GlobalNet user name in the POP Account name field and your password in the Password field. Click on Next.

17. 
Enter GlobalNet Mail as a friendly name for this email account. Click on Next.

18.  Select Yes (Or Select No and skip to step 24 to not setup your news) to set up your Internet news account now and click on Next.

19.  Enter your name how you would like it to appear when you post a message. Click on Next.

20.  Enter your GlobalNet E-mail address. This should be your username@surfglobal.net. Click on Next.

21.  Enter news.surfglobal.net for the news server and check the box you are required to log on and click on Next.

22.  Enter your email address (username@surfglobal.net) for the news account name and your password for the password and click on Next.

23.  Enter GlobalNet News for the news account name and click on Next.

24.  Select No to set up your Internet directory service and click on Next.

25.  Click Finish to complete your configuration.
